Prague - City of English And Music

Uff, finally at home! It's been a really long time since I wrote last post here but I didn't have any acces to the Internet at all and also any time to go to some Internet café or something like that.

As soon as I arrived home on Saturday from the summer camp in the mountains I was packing my bags again. Niky wrote me that day that she find a place for me to sleep so I'm going to the Prague no matter what. I just said "ok, see ya on Sunday morning at 9am at my house". The real time of our date was 10am because Niky overslept (I'm wondering if she ever goes on time?!) but it didn't change anything ;) We went to the railway station, bought some food for the way - ceasar's salad was incredibly delicious!!! We caught our train and spent 2hours in it and then we finally reached the Prague railway station. Jeff was waiting for us near the ticket shop no.4. Afterwards we went to the hostel to leave our bags there and then, finally, we bursted out to the city. Our first steps (my steps) led us to the Coffee Heaven on the bottom of Wenceslas square, café which has sooo amazing coffee of so many kinds - capuccino, laté, ice coffee, even some cocktails...We spent few minutes in the outdoor garden watching people going around and talking. Then we went for a walk through the Karlova street, Charles' Bridge, Kampa, Old Town Square and many streets and places around. I needed to go to the Anagram Bookshop which is and English bookstore in Prague so our next stop was this small store. I ordered one book there which is called Stiff: The Curious Lives Of Human Cadavres (yeah, I'm a freak but I'm proud of it!!! :P ), Jeff bought one book for himself and Niky was afraid to touch books at all :D

Afterwards we went back to the one of the towers on the Charles' Bridge to meet Sarah and Irish Tim there but these two weren't there so we sat in incredibly expensive restaurant and ordered one beer for each of us. We were talking, drinking (how many times these two words appear on my blog?!) and ordering another round of beers. The price of this beer was 90 crowns!!! In Hradec and in any other NORMAL pub/restaurant in the Czech republic you can get 0,5l of 12° for 25 crowns maximum! So, this was really really expensive restaurant. Sarah came after a while just to tell us that she's going on some sightseeing tour through the Prague and that she will join us at 7:30pm as well as Tim. So, we spent whole time in constitution of two Canadians, two Czechs, one American, one Irishman and three Dutchmen who we met later in the night. If you want to improve your English, go to the pub with all foreigners - the success guranteed! So many different accents of English - the irish one was the most difficult, though. But we had great night all together :)

The morning next day was little bit in rush. We had to get out of the hostel room quite early = 9am :D Afterwards we went on the breakfast on the Wenceslas square (again expensive like hell!) Before we left from the hostel I was introduced to the Jeff's biiiig bag - for you Ty, if you read this I mean his luggage ;) No one would have recognized where he is from ;) - the hockey bag with CANADA and maple leafs all over it. :D We said goodbye to Sarah and Tim because they were going to Cesky Krumlov, I guess and we set off the way to the Prague airport. We met Michal there and spent there few hours. I was again dumbfounded by the prices of all goods, food and drinks there. Just imagine chewing gums for 30 crowns if in normal shop you get them for 11 crowns. Unbelievable!!

The time for saying another goodbye had come around 3pm, this one was for Jeff and believe it or not I was in normal happy mood because I know I'll see him really soon, eh? So, no crying or some things like that, just "hi and see ya" (not in months as I said to him :D )

I had a meeting with my father and brother later in the evening but first I went for my bag to the railway station's depository and also to saw off Niky. After that I was free for other events which were on my program. First of all we had a dinner with my uncle. We stayed at his place.

Tuesday was really nice day. We were walking in the Prague with my father and bro. I guess we were nearly everywhere, even on the water because we were on one of those boat trips. Really nice weather but sometimes I felt really hot. I enjoyed this walk a lot, though. At 4:30 we were standing at the entrance to the Lumbe's Garden where the concert of James Blunt was situated. I really like this singer a LOOOOT so I tried to be there on the right time to get the best places. Believe it or not I made it! I was standing in the first line and I saw everything. The whole concert should have begun at 7pm but the support band called Zero 7 (amazing jamming performance, I really loved it!) started to play at 8pm. After an hour later James and his band came and to be honest he's not as handsome as I've thought after seeing him on some pictures before but he is really nice guy. His voice is nice as well and his piano and guitar playing...hmhmmm...I was almost in the seventh heaven. Though, I wasn't as melting as some other girls who were standing next to me. I guess there were few girls who were even crying. I'm fan of James but not so big to cry when I see him. I just like his music and voice, it's soo nicely melancholic. He played all songs from his debut album Back To Bedlam and three new things which were really really great. I can't wait to have his next CD.

So, this was my few days in the Prague with English and music on every corner. Tomorrow I'm going to be in the pool for whole day long because I won't be able to stand 35°C.

Till next post...
